Run faster than our CEO and win a day off
Every year for the DHL run, all our employees can win a day off if they run "age-appropriately faster than the CEO". A tradition of 12 years and a significant number of days off earned.
It is a fair competition that corrects for age and gender. If you are older than the CEO, you get an extra 9 seconds added per year of age difference – if you are younger, it goes the other way. All genders besides male are granted 13% extra time, which is the difference between the male and female world record of 5 kilometers.
If you care too much for our CEO and therefore do not want to humiliate him on the running track, a tent, barbecue, bartender, drinks, DJ, and lounge atmosphere are provided for everyone on the cheering squad.
"DHL is a great setting. It is a fantastic event for new colleagues because it is informal, active, and festive. The atmosphere and community around the race is 'world-class onboarding' and the atmosphere in our tent gave us a few new colleagues at the last DHL, - and then it almost starts to be good business", says Lars Berntsen, CEO at Dwarf.
We see DHL as "the agency's second summer party", and this year 50 of our 59 employees participated in the event in Fælledparken – half as runners and half as cheerleaders. Not many people can match that.
"I'm there to enjoy the party and the company of our employees. But I'm also running as fast as I can, or the board is just coming after me," Lars laughs.
