Visualizing women in democracy
For more than 2,500 years, women have been fighting to claim their place in our democracies.
In collaboration with the Financial Times, we’ve created an animated short film that shines a spotlight on the underrepresentation of women in leadership roles.
The project builds on the Financial Times’ initiative to explore the challenges facing modern democracy at a time of growing polarization and increasing threats to representative leadership.
The animation takes viewers on a journey through landscapes and key moments in history, showing how women gradually gain more space in democratic life. Every scene and character is handcrafted, giving the film a warm, timeless quality that captures the sweep of history while standing in sharp contrast to the weight of its subject matter.
